Portraits: Tossing out the neutral background.

When we discussed place back on the Architecture page. We hinted that giving a sense of place was vitally important.  It is absolutely crucial in portraiture work. Our surroundings give us clues to the person in the frame. The fact they are not able to use words, gestures, or any of the subtle cues we use to communicate, the background must do the heavy lifting.
